  1. TN4A Hi Neutral. It is a thrower 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Jan 2017

I am blown away with how great of a 'ceiling' bounce / room illuminator these TN4A Hi s really are {considering their tiny 'narrow focused' [Hi] centre spot}.
The Neutral tint XP-L Hi used in these TN4A Hi s of mine have what looks like maybe around 4,500k +.
And this's heaps preferred over typical 5,000k neutral from elsewhere.
The TN4A Hi is one heavy beast, but it's rated to 2m drop resistance, so who cares about its weight.
The flexibility of 4x AA is awesome. I'm using regular [2000mAh] eneloop, `cause I read somewhere that [2450mAh] eneloop PRO s are somewhat tight.
There is, however, a tiny gap between carrier and [inner] wall of flashlight's tail assembly. I'm gunna modify this by placing electrician's tape around
wall of tail assembly at top and bottom. This is where carrier is widest, and, thus, I'll not interfer with battery positions within actual carrier.
The eneloop [regular] are an easy fit both to get in and to get out again.
The BEST thing of all is the carrier is NON-Polarised. ie. there is no right and wrong way to place inside tail assembly.

    I'm glad I snapped up 3.
I am pleased with ALL 3x these.

As with any light using XP-L Hi, there isn't too much corona surrounding the spot. But in the case of these 45mm wide lensed TN4A s, the flood diameter is literally huge.
I have other torches which throw out to 400m just like this ThruNite Hi does, but only the Thrunite has this huge flood circle.
And it's flood area is functional to boot, even on low / 14 lm setting.

The 80day 0.2 lm firefly seems brigher than claimed.
The flood area is useless / I cannot see presence of a corona,
BUT I find it easy to read by the light of 'lowest' firefly's spot.
I am extremely suprised [and delighted] to find that ALL 3 of my TN4A Hi s are consistantly close to each other in brightness on firefly mode.
I did expect to 'cherry pick' a fav. out of the 3,
but discovered that I can read by the light from any of these 3,
provided I only rely on the tiny, tiny spot.

I never go caving, but if I did, and if I got trapped,
I would rely on my TN4A Hi 's firefly setting for the duration of my trapped underground life!
I suspect that why I perceive it to be far greater than 0.2 lm is because of the concentration to a tiny sized spot, compared to other torches of mine @ 1 lm.
Above 1 lm, and I call it Moonlight.
Below 0.5 lm, and I call it Firefly.
These ThruNite torches seem like between high firefly and low moonlight at their centre spot,
but I still say it's true firefly {but on the upper limit for firefly, only}.
    I never wanted 0.2 lm, but would rather 0.5 - 1.0 lm, and I feel like that's what I got times 3 :-)
The bezel looks like one thick/wide beastie.
I believe it'd help greatly to protect, during a 2 metre fall.

I chose the Thrunite over other brands [like NiteCore] due to lowest of low parasitic drain.
The main review suggests 10 years to full drain; when left inside and connected.
I'd thus consider 5 years to half capacity, I guess: therefore torch is still good-to-go, 5 years later.
Of course I 'could' lockout with a huge twist, or remove carrier entirely, but .... I'm lazy, plus I want readynessness.
The other main reason for choosing ThruNite over all others, is it's awsome non-polarised carrier.
[...] keep a spare magazine [read, loaded carrier] in the pocket,
and when the batteries go flat, switch over to spare magazine in the dark by feel, without concern regarding "which way does it go?",

Great torches ThruNite and thanx for the Neutral options :-)

  2. Compact thrower 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jan 2017

A compact but powerful 4xAA thrower. It can easily and brightly illuminate a small house 250 meters away. Machining and anodizing is perfect, reflector has no flaws.
The turbo mode on double-click is very convenient.

  4. Super Bright, Tough and Compact Flashlight 5 Star Review

Posted by on 31st Dec 2016

I love flashlights so I'm always looking for the brightest and most durable flashlight and I found it. The TruNite TN4A is my My favorite flashlight ever. The beam throw on this flashlight is on believable, I have never seen a flashlight using alkaline AA batteries I throw such a bright beam so far. Also you have several brightness settings to choose from that also conserve battery power. I love this flashlight so much I purchased four of them, I certainly recommend this flashlight to anyone who wants a Superbright, tough and compact flashlight.

  6. TN4A STILL the Best 4xAA LED Light in the World 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Dec 2016

I now have 5 TN4A's. The first batch CW without the lanyard attachment point and no serial number that has the still tint boiling shifting hot spot and corona, both the XML2 NW and XP-L NW, The CW HI and now the NW HI. ALL get used and ALL are still so solid I have every confidence I could turn any one of them on and throw it 40 feet into a lake and it would still just keep cranking. THE BEST 4xAA LIGHT THERE IS

  11. Great for duty belt. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Jul 2016

Work as a parole officer in Ohio. This light works great and fits nice on my duty belt. Works great being able to adjust intensity and the long use on regular AA batteries! Great for house searches as well as a long distance thrower outside!

  12. Perfect small thrower. 5 Star Review

  13. Great thrower... 5 Star Review

Very useful being able to use AAA batteries.
Well made, and is a great torch.
Didn't notice too much difference between high and turbo modes.

  14. Pocket thrower with great spill ! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Jan 2016

My TN4A HI is an impressive light. Fit and finish is flawless. Led is perfectly centered, and the smooth reflector is perfect. Im using Eneloop Pro's and they fit the battery carrier with no problems. It has a lanyard attachment loop hole. Im getting slightly better runtime than the factory specs list. In my homemade lightbox im getting near identical lumen numbers as factory listed. The spot is defined and throws to 250 yards with no problem. The throw is as good as my Solarforce M9 running on 2 18650's. The spill is very nice and larger than I expected. Belt holster is well made. The light came with a lanyard, extra O rings, and an extra switch boot. The TN4A HI has become my new house, outdoor, go to light and gets used every day. Well worth the price and then some.

  15. Fantastic AA thrower! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jan 2016

I'm new to modern flashlight technology. Man I'm lucky. This is all the throw I need and it uses AAs! Easily throws further than I can see the details. Beautiful & powerful beam. Very cool light and a tremendous value at this price. I have lithiums in it now. Waiting for eneloop pros. The lithiums have lasted 3 weeks of constant use. I love it!
